Just Stand

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD …  Exodus 14:13

There comes a place in one’s walk with God where all you can do is ‘Stand’. Standing is not glamorous, nor attractive, and certainly not the place one wishes to aspire. We seek the Lord to see Him move, be moved, and see things take flight.

However, there is a rightful time and place in life where the Lord wants us and has called us to just ‘Stand’. Our wristwatches and earthbound calendars are not in synch many times with God’s time clock. Sometimes just being a spectator is the call of duty. When you have done all you can do, just Stand!

Standing does not succumb to the negative connotation of going backwards. On the other hand, neither does “standing” energize mobs to rapturous applause or beckon the accolades and praises of our contemporaries. Standing and not swaying ‘to or fro’ may be just what the doctor orders.

Standing is the elephant in the room. He looks and feels unattractive, especially in comparison with our present world – the sun rises and sets, tides ebb and flow, weather patterns are in constant flux and life around us swirls and whips in perpetual movement. Standing may be the neglected stepchild of our present day and age intoxicated by advanced technology and silicon wizardry.

Moreover, standing can be perceived as personal weakness, inadequacy or ineptitude. However, just “standing” can be the only place and best place to be at a given moment in time. If it was for Moses, then why not for you and me?

Just Stand. There is a lot of meaning in these words. The ‘just’ of God will stand and do stand for absolutes. They stand for truth, righteousness, holiness, light, hope and meaning. They stand against worldliness, darkness, deception, ungodliness and hell itself.

When you have done all you can do friend just STAND and see what the Lord can do!

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13

  1. What an excellent post! How true that today’s age seems to leave us with an almost inability to simply “stand”… and yet, sometimes, it’s what the Father desires MOST for us! I wonder if you’d mind if I edit my recent post on “Standing” to include a link back here? I feel like it’s an excellent resource for anyone Jesus leads here 🙂 Bless you!
